Description

There are foreheads that need no crown, only a single, considered ornament placed just so. This maang tikka is worked in sterling silver, its central medallion set with zircon stones that catch light with the cool clarity of a winter sky. The silhouette follows a traditional pendant-and-chain form: a flat, polished disc rimmed by a fine border of prong- or bezel-set zircons, suspended from a slim silver chain that parts the hair at the centre parting and secures with a pin at the root. Sterling silver gives the piece its particular character, a bright, honest metal with none of the warmth of gold but a refinement entirely its own. Zircon, long favoured by Indian jewellers as an accessible counterpart to the diamond, brings refractive brilliance without ostentation. The piece weighs a featherlight seven grams and measures two point four inches, roughly six point one centimetres, in length, making it proportionate for everyday wear as well as formal dressing. Wear it with an ivory or deep teal silk saree for a winter wedding reception, where the silver and zircon read as quietly sculptural against rich fabric. Paired with a pastel anarkali and open hair, it becomes the single jewel that anchors an otherwise simple look without competing for attention. Free-sized and secured with a standard pin, it sits comfortably on most hair textures and densities. The sterling silver construction resists tarnish reasonably well with routine care, and its restrained weight means it can be worn through long ceremony days without fatigue.
