Description

There are maang tikas that sit on the forehead, and then there are those that seem to have been placed there by memory itself. Fashioned in brass and shaped around the enduring vocabulary of North Indian bridal adornment, this piece centres on a pendant motif that draws from the Mughal-influenced florals long beloved by Jaipur's karigars. The brass base, worked to a warm antique-gold finish, gives the piece the weight of something inherited rather than purchased. Stones are set in a close, almost pressed arrangement that echoes the spirit of Kundan work without the gold foil, letting the metal carry the ornament's warmth on its own terms. A slim chain, adjustable for placement, rises from the pendant to a discreet partition clip, ensuring the tika rests precisely at the maang's centre. One size fits all wearers, as the adjustable chain accommodates different hair parting lengths with ease. Wear it with a deep-toned silk lehenga for a sangeet or mehendi, where the brass reads as deliberately antique and considered. For a more restrained occasion, pair it over a fine cotton kurta in ivory or rust, and let the tika do all the work. Because the piece is brass rather than gold, it is lighter on the head and honest in its material storytelling. The finish is durable for occasional wear, and the clip-and-chain construction means it needs no pinning into the hair, making it straightforward to style and to remove.
