Description

There is a particular kind of ornament that does not decorate a face so much as frame it, and the passa has always been that piece. Worn at the side of the head, pinned into a braid or tucked against a chignon, the passa carries centuries of Mughal court memory in its silhouette. This one is wrought in brass, a metal beloved by artisans across Rajasthan for the warmth it lends to antique-style work, its surface holding the depth of oxidised detail in a way that silver rarely achieves. The form follows the classical flat-fan or pendant cluster shape associated with the passa tradition, extending outward from a central pin to create an asymmetric focal point at the temple. At 48 grams, it rests with a satisfying, present weight, substantial enough to feel significant without pulling uncomfortably at pinned hair. For a festive salwar-kameez in deep teal or burgundy, this piece reads as a considered antique accent. It works equally well anchoring a silk dupatta arrangement at a mehendi or sangeet, where restrained brass ornament often reads more powerfully than anything gilded. The piece is offered free size, as passas by nature require only a secure pin rather than a fitted measurement. The brass finish, warm and slightly burnished in tone, asks for minimal maintenance: a soft dry cloth after wear keeps the oxidised detail intact. It weighs 48 grams and is pictured in its only offered colour.
