Description

There is a particular kind of grandeur that belongs to the forehead alone. This triple-layer chandelier maang tikka is built in the tradition of Rajasthani bridal adornment, where the cascade of tiers signals celebration and the weight of craft signals devotion. The brass base is worked into a chandelier silhouette that descends in three graduated layers, each studded with zircon stones set to catch light from every angle. The green stones chosen here carry the cool depth of rain-washed foliage, a shade long favoured in the jewellery workshops of Jaipur where coloured stones are paired with warm metal to striking effect. At 3 inches in height and 1.8 inches in width (approximately 7.6 cm by 4.6 cm), the piece commands the centre parting with authority rather than delicacy, and its 42 gram weight settles with a reassuring, ceremonial presence on the brow. For a bride or wedding guest dressed in a moss-green or ivory silk sari with zari border, this tikka becomes the anchor from which all other jewellery takes its cue. It reads equally well against a deep-toned lehenga in wine or forest shades where the green zircons provide a jewel-toned counterpoint. The tikka is offered in free size, the chain fitting most parting lengths. The brass construction is lightweight enough for a full day of ceremony without strain, and the chandelier drop lies flat against the forehead, requiring no adjustment once pinned.
