Description

There are forehead ornaments, and then there are the ones that feel like a quiet declaration. This Kundan maang tikka carries the sensibility of Jaipur's finest costume jewellery ateliers, where brass forms the backbone of a piece and skilled hands set stones into wax-backed Kundan bezels with unhurried precision. The silhouette is vertical and slender, measuring nine centimetres tall and just over three centimetres wide, its layered pendant dropping from a central hook that sits at the hairline. Flat-cut stones, cradled in polished Kundan settings, catch light with the cool gleam particular to this technique: no prongs, no glue, only pressure and craft holding each stone in place. The brass base lends the piece a warm, slightly antique tone rather than the severity of yellow gold, making it more forgiving in daylight and candlelight alike. At eleven grams, it sits with presence but not weight. Wear it with a silk organza lehenga in ivory or dusty rose for a sangeet or mehendi evening; it is equally at home pinned to a sheer dupatta draped over a classic Bengali Banarasi sari for a daytime wedding. Free-sized and fastened by a simple chain and hook that tucks neatly into the centre parting, this tikka requires no adjustment and no special storage beyond keeping it away from moisture. Its brass construction means it travels well, arriving at the occasion exactly as it left the jewellery box.
