Description
There are foreheads that a maang tikka does not merely adorn; it consecrates. This piece works in the Kundan tradition, a discipline rooted in the ateliers of Rajasthan where setting stones without prongs is itself a form of devotion. A central pendant, four inches tall (approximately 10.2 cm) and just under an inch wide (approximately 2 cm), arranges foil-backed stones within polished brass frames, the metal shaped into layered floral or medallion forms characteristic of the style. Kundan-set pieces derive their depth from the way each stone is pressed into a gold-toned or lacquered seat, catching light rather than reflecting it. Offered in two colours, green and red, each variant shifts the mood entirely: the green reads verdant and festival-ready, the red carries the warmth of sindoor and ceremony. At ten grams, the pendant carries enough presence to be felt without fatigue. Wear the red against a silk anarkali for a mehendi evening, where the warm stones speak the same language as the embroidery. The green pairs beautifully with an ivory or cream chanderi kurta for a daytime Puja, the colour contrast clean and assured. The tikka is offered in a free size with the chain and hook adjusted to sit at the hairline as tradition demands. The brass base is lightweight enough for a full day's wear and requires only a dry cloth to retain its finish between occasions.
