Description
The chaand, that oldest of Indian adornments, finds new life here in a maang tikka that carries the full weight of Rajasthani tradition. Set in brass and worked in the manner of Polki detailing, the central chaand disc is framed by stone studding in either soft ivory white or a cool, saturated green, both of which catch light with the quiet confidence of uncut settings rather than the flash of faceted stones. Suspended below, a cascade of pearl drops adds the characteristic sway that distinguishes a well-made tikka from a merely decorative one. The overall silhouette measures 6.5 inches (approximately 16.5 cm) in length and 1.6 inches (approximately 4 cm) in width, proportioned generously enough to anchor the centre parting without overwhelming a finer face. At 21 grams, it sits with pleasing presence. This is the aesthetic language of Jaipur's bazaars, where Kundan-influenced stone work and Polki sensibilities have long shared the same workbench. Wear the white colourway with an ivory silk lehenga for a winter wedding, letting the pearl drops echo the fabric's sheen. The green reads beautifully against a deep magenta anarkali or a Banarasi sari in rust and gold. The piece is free size, fastening with a standard adjustable chain along the maang parting. Brass construction keeps the weight manageable for extended wear across a full evening's celebrations, and the stone settings are held securely within closed collets suited to regular festive use.
