Description

There is a particular kind of beauty that belongs only to Rajasthan, where flowers are not merely decorative but devotional. This maang tikka draws directly from the Kundan tradition of Jaipur, where goldsmiths press flat-cut glass stones into lac-filled settings to produce that signature, mirror-bright flush of colour. Here, the motif is floral in the most classical sense: a layered bloom at the centre, its petals outlined in the characteristic Kundan bezel, the whole pendant suspended from a slim, adjustable chain that sits cleanly at the centre parting. The piece is wrought in brass with a warm gold-toned finish that reads closer to gilt than costume, and the Kundan inlay gives it a formality that belies the modest scale. At four inches in length and just under an inch wide (approximately 10 cm by 2 cm), weighing thirteen grams, it rests with pleasing lightness against the forehead without pulling at the hair. Pair it with a silk Banarasi dupatta and a Chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, or let it anchor a simple cotton anarkali at a mehendi, where its Rajasthani lineage reads as deliberate rather than borrowed. The chain is adjustable, making it genuinely one size fits all across different hair thicknesses and parting widths. The brass base is resistant to everyday wear, and the Kundan face requires nothing more than a soft, dry cloth to maintain its brightness between occasions.
