Description

A single starburst, and the forehead becomes a sky. At the centre of this maang tikka sits a radiant floral starburst composed in the Kundan tradition: flat, uncut Polki-style stones set into a brass base with the precision that Jaipur's setting ateliers have practised for generations. The motif unfolds petal by petal from a central focal stone, each ray of the starburst framed by fine metal borders that hold the stones flush against their gold-toned foil backing, coaxing the maximum play of light from surfaces that are deliberately left raw and mirror-like. At 4.7 inches in length and 1.5 inches in width (approximately 12 cm by 3.8 cm), the piece carries a considered weight of 26 grams: substantial enough to drape with authority from the maang chain, but balanced so the pendant lies flat at the centre parting without pulling. Wear it over a deep-red silk Banarasi for a wedding or reception, letting the starburst occupy the forehead alone without competing jewellery above it. For a festive mehendi or sangeet, pair it with an ivory or sage chikankari kurta and keep the ears light with simple gold studs. The brass base is finished to a warm golden tone that photographs beautifully in both natural and ambient light. The chain attachment is a standard hook-and-loop fitting suitable for most hair-pinning styles, and free sizing means it accommodates every parting width without adjustment.
