Description

A passa carries the memory of a court that has never quite left us. The passa is a side-headpiece rooted in Mughal and Rajput bridal tradition, worn just above the temple where the hair parts. This piece is worked in brass, a metal long favoured by craftsmen who understand that warmth of tone matters as much as weight of gold. The silhouette follows the classic fan or floral spray form of the passa, radiating outward from a central setting in the manner that Jaipur and Lucknow ateliers refined over centuries. Brass allows the karigar to chase and press detail with precision, and in this piece that tradition is honoured in every turned edge and repeated motif. The finish carries the burnished, antique-adjacent quality that makes brass jewellery feel like a studied choice rather than a compromise. It arrives in one free size, designed to clip or pin into the hair at the temple, sitting flush without pulling. For the bride or the wedding guest, pair it with a silk tissue dupatta draped over the head at a nikah or a sangeet, where the piece catches candlelight at the hairline. For a contemporary pairing, wear it at the temple of a low chignon with a raw-silk kurta at a festive dinner. Brass is light enough to wear through a long evening without fatigue. The free-size fitting accommodates most hair thicknesses. A gentle wipe with a soft dry cloth keeps the finish luminous between wearings.
