Description

Worn at the temple of the brow, a passa carries the quiet authority of a bride who has nothing left to prove. This multi-strand passa, also called a side tikka, belongs to the Kundan tradition of Rajasthan, where foil-backed stones are pressed into open bezels of worked metal to create that characteristic flat, luminous face. Here, the central Kundan-set plaque anchors chains of graduated pearls that sweep downward in layered strands, each strand catching light at a slightly different angle. The brass base has been finished to a warm gold tone, lending the piece the visual warmth of heavier precious metal without the corresponding weight. Measuring approximately 12.8 cm in length by 10 cm in width, the passa is proportioned generously enough to register across a bridal dupatta yet stops well short of being unwieldy. At 45 grams, it rests with presence rather than discomfort against the side of the head. For the wedding day, pair it with a deep ruby or emerald silk lehenga in Banarasi brocade, where the pearl strands echo the zari work beneath them. For a reception or engagement ceremony, it sits equally well against an ivory or blush tissue chanderi ensemble, letting the Kundan centrepiece draw the only colour it needs. A single hook attachment secures the passa into the hair, suitable for most braided and pinned styles. The brass construction keeps the piece robust through long ceremonial hours, and the free-size fit means no adjustment is required before wearing.
