Description
There are foreheads that a maang tikka does not merely adorn but consecrate. Rooted in the Kundan tradition that Jaipur's goldsmiths have refined across centuries, this piece follows the language of the raj-style pendant: a long, slender drop measuring 4.4 inches (approximately 11.2 cm) in height and 0.8 inches (approximately 2 cm) in width, set in warm brass worked to receive its stones in the flat-foil Kundan manner. In Kundan setting, each stone is held not by prongs but by refined strips of gold-toned metal pressed flush against its girdle, allowing the polished red stones to catch light from every angle. The colour is a single, committed red, the shade of sindoor and celebration, and the silhouette is a straight, elegant drop rather than a clustered florette. At ten grams, the brass base gives the piece honest presence without fatigue. Pair it over an ivory or deep green Banarasi silk for a wedding guest's ensemble, where the red reads as deliberate and auspicious. On a simpler occasion, it lifts a plain georgette kurta or a cotton chanderi with immediate ceremony, requiring nothing else at the centre parting to complete the look. The piece is free size, with the chain adjustable to suit different parting lengths and head sizes. Brass wears well under studio lighting and natural daylight alike. Keep it wrapped in soft muslin between wearings to preserve the stone settings and the warm metal finish.
