Description

There are foreheads that seem made for ornament, and this is the piece they have been waiting for. Rooted in the Kundan tradition that Jaipur's ateliers have refined over centuries, this mang tika is set in brass worked to receive flat-polished Kundan stones arranged in the classic floral medallion that anchors every bridal and festive headdress in northern India. The central setting draws the eye with its characteristic layered border, each stone pressed firm into its foiled housing without prong or claw, held instead by the age-old method of pure Kundan lac filling. Brass gives the base a warm, honeyed tone that reads convincingly as gold against the skin, and the pendant hangs from a delicate chain that parts naturally along the hairline. At 29 grams, it carries real presence without burdening the parting. Pair it with a blush organza lehenga for a sangeet evening where the light does the work, or pin it over a dark silk saree at a winter wedding for the kind of contrast that photographs remember. The chain adjusts freely and the single hook closure is straightforward to fasten without assistance. One size suits all, the chain being long enough to sit centrally regardless of hair parting width. The brass body is finished to resist tarnish through ordinary wear, and the piece is best stored flat in its cloth pouch, away from moisture, to keep the Kundan foiling luminous across many seasons.
