Description

There are days when a single ornament tells you exactly where it belongs on the body. This Kundan maang tikka draws from the courtly language of Rajasthani jewellery, where flat-set, unfoiled stones are pressed into a bed of gold-toned lac within a brass framework to create the clean, luminous face that defines true Kundan work. The central pendant, likely a floral or medallion motif in the classical tradition, carries that characteristic stillness: stones that do not catch light so much as absorb it, held in place by the patient hand of the setter rather than a claw or bezel. Brass, finished to a warm gold tone, gives the piece its weight and warmth. At sixteen grams, it sits with quiet authority without pulling at the parting. Wear it with a tissue silk saree and a high bun for a winter wedding, where its restrained scale complements rather than competes with an embroidered pallu. For festive celebrations closer to home, pair it with a chanderi kurta and minimal ear studs, letting the tikka carry the occasion entirely on its own. One free size fits nearly all, the adjustable chain along the parting accommodating different hair lengths and head sizes with ease. The brass base makes it durable for regular festive wear, and the Kundan setting, when kept away from moisture, holds its polish season after season. A thoughtful piece at an accessible price, this tikka asks very little and offers much.
