Description
There are foreheads that ask to be adorned, and this maang tikka answers that request with quiet authority. Rooted in the Kundan tradition that Jaipur's goldsmiths have refined across centuries, this piece is set in brass worked to receive flat-pressed stones in the manner of classic Kundan work: each stone seated without prongs, held instead by burnished gold-toned foil that lends depth and a warm inner glow. The pendant reads as a layered floral medallion, its face composed of closely packed Kundan settings radiating outward from a central stone, the silhouette tapering into a chain that ends in a neat hook-and-loop closure for the parting of the hair. At four and a half inches tall by just over an inch wide (approximately 11.4 cm by 2.8 cm), and weighing eleven grams, it carries presence without burden on the brow. For a silk chanderi kurta set worn to a mehendi, it brings ceremonial weight without competing with heavier neck jewellery. For a contemporary mirror-work lehenga at a sangeet, it holds its own as the sole adornment above the neckline. The free-size adjustable chain suits most head sizes, and the eleven-gram brass base keeps it genuinely comfortable across long celebrations. Brass, when treated with care and stored away from moisture, retains its warm tone through seasons of wearing, making this a quietly reliable piece of the festive wardrobe.
