Description

There is a moment, just before a bride steps into the light, when every ornament on her body begins to speak. This maang tikka draws its vocabulary from the Polki tradition most closely associated with the ateliers of Jaipur, where uncut stones are set in close formation against a gold-toned base to catch and scatter light rather than concentrate it. Here, brass is worked into a pendant silhouette that reads as a layered floral medallion, the Polki pieces embedded flat within their settings in the manner of Jadau influence, surrounded by fine bead drops that tremble at the slightest movement. The gold tone finish on the brass reads warm rather than brash, and the hanging bead drops add a rhythmic verticality that elongates the centre parting with quiet drama. At twenty-six grams, the piece carries genuine presence without the fatigue of heavier bridal jewellery. Wear it anchored in the maang against a heavily embroidered silk lehenga for a full bridal ceremony, letting the drops mirror the embellishment on the dupatta. For a mehendi or sangeet, pair it with a tissue-silk kurta and minimal ear studs to let the tikka hold the composition alone. The free-size chain slides and positions easily across different hair partings. The brass construction keeps the piece robust for day-long wear, and the gold tone surface resists the dulling that often comes with a ceremony's humidity and movement.
