Description
A forehead adorned is a forehead blessed. Kundan work traces its lineage to the ateliers of Rajasthan, where karigars in Jaipur perfected the art of pressing uncut glass stones into a lac-filled gold-foiled setting, each piece locked in place by hand without heat or mechanical force. This matha patti carries that tradition into a flower motif repeated across a nine-point-seven-inch (approximately twenty-four-point-six centimetre) span, the central blooms built from layered Kundan settings that catch light with the particular warmth only this technique can produce. The accompanying maang tikka, four-point-five inches (roughly eleven-point-four centimetres) tall and one-point-two inches (approximately three centimetres) wide, drops from the hairline with a pendant weight of forty-two grams in total across the set. The base is brass, finished to approximate the glow of deeper metals, making the white and ivory tones of the Kundan stones read clearly against it. Wear this set with a tissue silk lehenga in dusty rose or ivory for a daytime mehendi ceremony, letting the tikka anchor the centre parting without competing with the neckline. For a formal evening reception, pair it against a velvet blouse in deep teal so the Kundan flowers hold all the light. The free-size construction means the matha patti adjusts to most head measurements through its chain links at either end. The brass base is lightweight enough for extended wear and resists bending under normal use.
