Description

There are nights when the moon itself seems to wear flowers. This maang tikka draws on the Rajasthani Polki tradition, where uncut diamonds were once set in gold foil to catch candlelight. Here, the same spirit lives in brass, with flat-cut Polki stones arranged in a layered floral medallion. Each petal radiates outward from a central bloom, the setting faithful to the foil-backed Kundan method that gives every stone its luminous, mirror-like depth. The piece extends six and a half inches in height (roughly 16.5 cm) and spans one point seven inches across (approximately 4.3 cm), with its weight settled at twenty-six grams, substantial enough to sit with quiet authority at the centre of the forehead. A single pearl drop finishes the lower end, its cool ivory a considered counterpoint to the warm brass beneath. Wear it against the silk of a Banarasi lehenga for a wedding mehendi, where the floral motif echoes the henna traced on the hands. It translates equally well over a handloom cotton anarkali at a festive gathering, where its scale commands without overwhelming. The free-size chain adjusts to suit most hairlines, and the brass base lends durability to daily festive wear. The Polki stones are foil-set rather than mounted in open bezels, which helps protect them from casual handling. A soft cloth is all the care this piece asks of you.
