Description

There are maang tikkas that sit on the forehead, and then there are the ones that seem to bloom there. This piece is worked in the Kundan tradition, a discipline long perfected in the ateliers of Jaipur, where gemstones are set not with prongs but with refined gold foil pressed flush against the surface of the stone, holding each piece as tenderly as a petal holds dew. Here, that technique is translated onto a brass base, its face arranged as a layered floral cluster, the central motif fanning outward through concentric rings of stone-set blossoms. Coloured stones, available in a cool, bridal white or a warm, festive pink, catch the light with the particular softness Kundan setting is known for. Pearl drops descend from the base in a gentle cascade, their weight creating a slow, natural swing. The entire tikka measures approximately 18 centimetres in length and just under 5.6 centimetres in width, and sits at a comfortable 31 grams. Wear the white colourway against an ivory or gold Banarasi silk for a winter wedding, where it reads as restrained yet ceremonial. The pink variant pairs just as well with a magenta or coral Chanderi lehenga for a sangeet or mehendi. The tikka is offered in free size, with an adjustable chain allowing placement across a range of hairlines. The brass base lends it durability for a full day of wear, and the foiled setting keeps the stones secure without adding unnecessary bulk.
