Description

There is a quietness to a well-placed tikka, the way it marks the centre parting like a whispered intention. This floral Kundan maang tikka works in the tradition of Jaipur's goldsmithing ateliers, where artisans press flat-cut glass Kundan stones into a close-fitting brass framework using a refined lac-setting technique. The silhouette is compact and pendant-like: a layered floral bloom, its petals radiating from a central stone cluster, the whole form suspended from a small hook that nestles at the hair parting. Brass here is not a compromise but a deliberate choice, lending the piece its characteristic warmth and weight without the austerity of silver. The Kundan inlay catches light in the flat, still way that polished glass always does, giving the jewel a regal quality that belies its accessible scale. At 4.1 inches tall and 1.2 inches wide (approximately 10.4 cm by 3 cm), weighing 13 grams, it is substantial enough to be seen yet never burdensome. Wear it with a silk chanderi dupatta and a straight-cut kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, or let it anchor the look at a mehendi ceremony alongside heavy chaandbali earrings and a tissue-silk lehenga in ivory or deep rose. The free-size hook adjusts easily to any parting width. Brass requires minimal care: a soft dry cloth after wearing keeps the Kundan facing bright. A dependable, quietly beautiful piece for occasions that deserve a little ceremony.
