Description

There is a geometry to devotion, and the Jaipur karigar knows it by hand. This maang tikka arrives as a full floral medallion worked in the Polki tradition: uncut, foil-backed stones set in brass that has been finished to read as warm gold. The central bloom opens in layered petals, each one cupped around a flat Polki setting, the whole face alive with the diffused, milky brilliance that only uncut stone can give. A suspended string of graduated freshwater pearls trails below, catching light with every movement, and the chain rises to a simple adjustable hook designed to grip the parting with ease. The piece measures five and a half inches in height by one point seven inches in width (roughly fourteen by four centimetres) and weighs a settled twenty-two grams, enough to feel substantial without pulling at the hair. Wear it against a deep wine silk sari for a winter wedding, where the pearls will echo the glow of candles and the Polki will hold its own beside heavier Kundan sets. It reads equally well with a pale ivory or blush lehenga, lending antique warmth to a bridal or festive look where restraint is the point. At twenty-two grams and free size, the adjustable chain suits most hair thicknesses and partings. Brass is hardy and resists everyday knocks; store it flat, away from moisture, and the finish will keep its depth across many seasons of wearing.
