Description

There is a particular kind of beauty that belongs to the crescent: ancient, unhurried, and always reaching. This maang tikka is shaped around a floral crescent motif, its arc set in the Kundan tradition where polished glass stones are pressed into a brass base using fine gold-toned foil, each stone held flush against its neighbour so that the surface reads as continuous light rather than scattered points. The crescent sweeps outward at both tips, framing a clustered floral centre that sits at the forehead like a pendant turned upward toward the parting. Brass, long favoured in the workshop jewellery of Rajasthan and worn with pride across bridal and festive traditions, gives the piece its warm gold tone and its surprising lightness. The single colour offered is a deep red, rich enough to hold its own against layered embroidery or mirror-work. Pair it with a crimson or ivory silk lehenga for a mehendi or sangeet, where the tikka's modest width of roughly 1.1 inches (approximately 2.8 cm) sits elegantly without competing with heavier necklace pieces. It reads equally well above a handloom silk saree at a winter wedding. At 4.7 inches (approximately 11.9 cm) in total height including the chain and hook, and weighing just 14 grams, this piece settles comfortably into the hair parting. The hook-and-chain attachment is standard and adjustable to most head sizes. The brass base, finished in warm gold, resists tarnish with minimal care.
