Description

The crescent, oldest symbol of feminine night, finds new life at the centre parting. Shaped as a graceful arc, this maang tikka carries the full vocabulary of Rajasthani adornment: a Kundan-set face where shaped glass stones are pressed into a bed of gold-toned lac against polished brass, then bordered and backed by Meenakari enamel work in your choice of saturated blue or deep green. Meenakari, the art of fusing vitreous colour onto metal, has long been the signature of Jaipur's craftsmen, who treat the reverse of a piece with the same care as its face. Here, that tradition holds. The crescent silhouette spans approximately 7.05 inches, or roughly 18 centimetres, in length and 1.60 inches, or about 4 centimetres, at its widest point, sitting as a confident horizontal sweep across the hairline rather than as a conventional pendant drop. Wear the blue enamel version against an ivory or blush silk saree for a bridal mehendi, where it reads as something old and something personal. The green pairs with a Banarasi tissue dupatta or a deep olive anarkali, letting the enamel do the storytelling at the parting. At 23 grams, the piece is present without feeling heavy through a long celebration. The brass base gives the Kundan setting firm anchorage, and the adjustable maang chain accommodates most hair partings comfortably at a free, adaptable fit.
