Description

A pendant that carries the quiet gravity of a keepsake, not a purchase. Sterling silver, worked in a vintage sensibility that owes much to the jewellery traditions of colonial-era India, where occidental silhouettes met indigenous metalwork with remarkable results. The piece is set with deep red garnets and soft ivory pearls, a pairing as old as the subcontinent's love for mixed-material adornment. The garnets sit with the particular warmth of Rajasthani stones, their colour neither theatrical nor muted but precisely calibrated. The pearls offer counterpoint, round and luminous against oxidised silver that has been deliberately aged to bring depth to every carved or repousse detail. At one and three-quarter inches in height and one point three inches in width (approximately 4.4 cm by 3.3 cm), and weighing a solid eight grams, this is a pendant of genuine presence without excess. Wear it over a cream or ivory silk kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, where the oxidised silver reads as antique without being archaic. It works equally well against a deep navy or forest-green blouse beneath a chanderi saree for a winter evening with considered, unhurried dressing. The piece accommodates a standard chain and is offered in free size, meaning the pendant itself is fixed and the bail adjustable by chain choice. At eight grams, sterling silver is durable, hypoallergenic for most wearers, and requires only occasional polishing to keep its vintage lustre fully alive.
