Description

The peacock has always known how to carry colour with dignity. In silver traditions stretching from Rajasthan to the Deccan, the peacock is not merely decorative but devotional, a creature of courts and temples alike. This pendant is worked in sterling silver filigree, the metal drawn into fine wire and coiled into the bird's spread tail, its feathers fanning outward to a width of 2.65 inches (6.73 cm) and a height of 2.35 inches (5.97 cm). At the centre, a green turquoise stone is set within a framed bezel, its cool muted tone reading beautifully against the oxidised silver ground. Filigree of this kind, known in its finest form across Odisha and Rajasthan, demands patience: each wire placement is a considered act, not a mechanical one. The pendant weighs 24 grams, a presence you will feel, and the finish is detailed enough to reward close attention without announcing itself across a room. Wear it on a long silver chain over a silk chanderi kurta in ivory or blush for an understated festive evening. It is equally at home against a linen shirt or a fine merino, for those afternoons when one wants craft without ceremony. The pendant comes ready to thread on any chain of your choosing. Sterling silver at this weight sits without swaying excessively, and the stone, snug in its setting, travels without anxiety. A pendant for the considered collector, not the occasional wearer.
