Description
She is storm and grace at once, the goddess who stands on the buffalo and yet blesses with an open palm. Tulja Bhavani is a fierce-tender form of Parvati venerated most devotedly in Maharashtra, and this pendant captures her with the quiet authority of hand-worked sterling silver. The deity is rendered in low relief, her posture frontal and composed, the kind of devotional iconography that silversmiths across the Deccan and into Karnataka have practised for generations. Sterling silver, with its cooler, moonlit lustre, suits her temperament precisely: it does not compete with the divinity of the image but instead holds it. The piece measures one and a quarter inches in height by three-quarters of an inch in width (approximately 3.2 cm by 1.9 cm) and weighs a modest 3.7 grams, all of it concentrated into a crisp, well-finished silhouette that photographs with pleasing depth. Wear this on a thin oxidised silver chain against a cream silk kurta for a daily puja or a family gathering where restraint reads as reverence. It sits equally well on a longer chain over a deep-hued chanderi blouse, where the silver catches candle or lamp light during festive evenings. At 3.7 grams the pendant rests without weight on the collarbone. Sterling silver requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth to retain its satin finish, and the standard bail accepts most chains up to moderate thickness, making it effortlessly compatible with pieces you already own.
