Description

There is a quiet clarity to peridot: the colour of new leaves held against morning light. Three oval peridot stones sit in close succession along the band, their warm, olivine green deepening or lightening with every shift of the wrist. The setting is clean and direct, a style that owes less to ornate court traditions and more to the understated silversmith's vocabulary that has long flourished in Bengal and the hill workshops of Rajasthan, where sterling silver is worked with an economy of line that lets the stone do its speaking. Sterling silver, chosen here for its cool, bright surface and its honest weight, gives the ring its backbone: at just three grams, it sits lightly on the finger while the triple-stone arrangement lends a considered, architectural presence. The band rises to a height of eight millimetres, enough to register as a statement without overwhelming the hand. Wear it with a cotton mulmul kurta in ivory or sage for an afternoon that moves between a museum and a quiet lunch. It carries equally well against the cuff of a linen shirt or alongside a single thread bracelet for an evening that asks for restraint rather than ceremony. At three grams and eight millimetres in height, the ring is everyday in its practicality. Sterling silver polishes readily with a soft cloth, and the modest weight means it can be worn through long hours without fatigue, season after season.
