Description

There are rings you wear, and rings that wear their history openly. This Kundan ring is worked in brass, its face set with glass stones laid in the traditional foiled Kundan manner, where each stone is pressed into a bed of refined lac and secured by thin ribbons of gold-toned metal folded flush against the girdle. The technique belongs to the ateliers of Jaipur, where karigar families have spent generations perfecting the art of setting without prongs, relying instead on the steady pressure of the bezel and the reflective magic of the foil beneath. The result is a surface that catches light with the softness of still water rather than the hard flash of modern jewellery. The brass base, warm and slightly antique in tone, holds a weight of nineteen grams, substantial enough to sit with authority on the finger without tilting or slipping. Wear it over an ivory chanderi kurta for a literary festival or a quiet family mehendi, where its restraint reads as confidence. Paired with a deep silk blouse and a Kanjivaram sari at a wedding reception, it holds its own without competing. The ring weighs nineteen grams and settles comfortably as a statement piece for the index or middle finger. Brass requires simple care: keep it away from water and perfume, and it will hold its warm patina through many seasons of wearing.
