Description

There are devotions that need no words, only silver. This pendant carries Lord Venkateswara of Tirupati at its centre, the most visited sacred site on earth rendered in sterling silver with the quiet authority of a craftsman who understands that divinity deserves precision, not excess. The Kirtimukha arch that frames the deity is one of the oldest motifs in Indian temple iconography, the face of glory swallowing its own form, a protective force radiating outward from sacred doorways and now, here, from a piece of jewellery worn close to the skin. Worked in oxidised sterling silver, the surface holds shadow and light in careful balance, allowing the carved detail of the arch and the figure within it to read clearly at a small scale. The pendant measures approximately 3.2 cm in height and 1.8 cm in width and weighs just 4.4 grams. Wear it on a fine silver chain against a silk Kanjeevaram for a temple visit or a festive family gathering. It sits equally well on a delicate gold-plated chain over a cotton kurta on an ordinary Tuesday, when devotion is quieter and more private. At free size and under five grams, this is a pendant designed for daily wear without strain on chain or clasp. The oxidised finish resists the kind of flat shine that dulls with handling; instead, it deepens over time, growing only more considered with wear.
