Description

There are stones that seem to hold light the way old wood holds warmth. This Tiger Eye pendant is set in sterling silver, the deep amber and honey-brown chatoyancy of the stone doing all the quiet work. The cabochon is held within a silver bezel that follows the natural drama of the gem, its silken cat's-eye shimmer shifting with every angle of light. At roughly five centimetres tall and just over three centimetres wide, the pendant carries real presence without weight that tires. The piece weighs 22.63 grams, substantial enough to feel considered, light enough to forget you are wearing it. Sterling silver at this gauge develops a pleasing depth of tone over time, and the finish here is kept restrained, letting the stone remain the sole narrator. This is not the fussed ornament of a Kundan bridal set; it belongs instead to a quieter lineage of silversmithing, the kind practised across Rajasthan and the tribal silver traditions of central India, where the stone is honoured rather than overwhelmed. Wear it against a raw silk kurta in ivory or warm ochre, where the tiger eye's tawny depth feels entirely at home. It is equally at ease over a fine merino roll-neck on cooler evenings, lending an editorial, unhurried quality to Western dressing. The free-size bail accommodates chains of most gauges. The bezel setting protects the cabochon well for daily wear, and sterling silver responds kindly to a soft cloth and occasional light polishing.
