Description

There are gestures older than language, and this brooch remembers one of them. The Gyan Mudra, that ancient hand-form of wisdom where forefinger meets thumb in a quiet circle, rises here from a many-petalled lotus base cast in warm brass. At the centre of the mudra's loop, the Om symbol is set like a mantra made visible, so the piece carries meaning at every level of its composition. Brass, long the working metal of temple craftsmen across Rajasthan and the Deccan, lends the brooch its weight and its burnished, slightly antique finish, the kind that deepens rather than dazzles. Standing at just over four inches tall (approximately 10.5 cm) and a little over an inch wide (approximately 3 cm), and weighing a grounded 23 grams, this is a brooch with real presence, designed as a statement rather than a footnote. Pin it at the shoulder of a handwoven cotton or linen kurta for a retreat, a morning puja, or a philosophy lecture where intention matters as much as appearance. It reads equally well against the ivory silk of a simple anarkali worn to a cultural evening or a heritage exhibition. The pin-back fastening sits flush and secure, making it comfortable across a full afternoon. The free-size format means it belongs to any wearer, and the brass construction requires only a soft cloth to maintain its warm, devotional lustre across years of use.
