Description

There are timepieces, and then there are pieces that make time feel ornamental. This Kundan watch necklace from the Jaipur tradition reimagines the wristwatch as a pendant, setting a dial-shaped centrepiece in the flat-set Kundan manner: each foiled glass stone pressed flush into a brass frame with the patience that defines this centuries-old craft. The border is worked with rows of coloured Kundan stones, their lustre amplified by the reflective gold-toned brass beneath. Below the dial, a fringe of fine ghungroo drops hangs loose, their soft chime recalling the anklet bells of classical dancers and the festive trim of temple jewellery. The piece weighs a substantial 84 grams and measures approximately 17.3 cm in length with an adjustable chain, the dial itself spanning roughly 3 cm across, proportions that sit with quiet authority against the neckline rather than competing with it. Wear this over a silk tissue kurta at a mehendi or sangeet, where the ghungroo drops will catch the light with every movement. It reads equally well against the crisp ivory of a cotton anarkali at a literary or cultural evening, where its wit invites conversation. The adjustable chain offers a versatile fit suited to most necklines, free of any clasp fuss. Brass ensures lightness relative to its visual presence, and the Kundan setting, when kept away from moisture, holds its foiled stones securely across many seasons of wear.
