Description

There is a quiet theatre in the way a timepiece becomes an ornament. This Kundan watch-necklace belongs to the tradition of Rajasthani adornment where utility and jewellery were never opposites. The brass base is worked in the classic Kundan manner: a frame of refined metal holds foil-backed stones in place setting by setting, each pressed flush so the surface reads as an unbroken constellation of colour and light. The face of the watch sits at the centre of this composition like a medallion, framed by the stone-studded surround that gives the piece its weight and intention. Weighing 46 grams, the necklace carries a substantiality that speaks to its craft rather than its material, and the adjustable chain measures 6.1 inches (approximately 15.5 cm) in total length with the watch face spanning 1.4 inches (approximately 3.5 cm) across. Wear this with a Chanderi kurta in ivory for an afternoon diwali gathering, letting the brass and Kundan catch candlelight naturally. It reads equally well against the neckline of a georgette saree blouse at a mehendi, where its watch face becomes a conversation rather than a convenience. The adjustable chain means the necklace sits comfortably across a range of necklines without alteration. The brass construction keeps the piece light enough for extended wear, and the Kundan settings are finished to hold their stones securely through the movement of an ordinary day.
