Description

There are mornings made for ceremony, and pieces made to mark them. The kalgi is among the most regal of all North Indian bridal ornaments, worn by the groom at the turban's crest as a declaration of occasion. This brooch revives that tradition in Kundan work set on a brass base, the foiled glass stones arranged in the layered, leaf-and-plume silhouette that Jaipur's karigar families have refined across generations. Drops of faceted green beads hang in loose cascade from the lower register, lending movement and a garden-fresh contrast to the ivory and gold tones of the Kundan setting. At 4.6 inches tall and 4 inches wide (approximately 11.7 cm by 10.2 cm), the piece carries genuine presence without tipping into excess. At 70 grams, it sits with a settled, balanced weight on the fabric. Pin it to a cream or ivory silk sherwani pagri for a Rajasthani-influenced wedding look, where the green bead drops will pick up the embroidery tones. It reads equally well against a deep wine or navy safa at a sangeet or baraat procession, where its scale commands the evening light. The brooch is offered in Multi and White colourways, both at a free size, with the pin-back closure designed to grip securely through layered turban fabric. The brass base ages gracefully and resists the kind of brittleness that can trouble heavier settings during a full day of celebrations.
