Description

There is a quiet wilderness in this ring, the kind that a forest holds just before dawn. Shaped as a cluster of overlapping silver leaves, the ring draws on a naturalist vocabulary that has moved through Indian craft for centuries, surfacing in the vine-scroll work of Bengal silversmiths and the foliate borders of Mughal jewellery alike. Here it is rendered in sterling silver, each leaf pressed close to the next so that the setting itself becomes the ornament. At the heart of the cluster, tanzanite stones sit in close formation, their violet-blue shifting between lavender and deep indigo depending on the light. The stones are cool against the brushed silver surround, and the whole piece measures just 0.2 inches (approximately 0.5 cm) in height, keeping the silhouette low and wearable. The ring weighs 2.52 grams, a presence that is felt but never heavy. Wear it with a fine ivory silk kurta at a winter literary gathering, where its colour will draw the eye without demanding it. It pairs equally well with a slate-grey linen dress, carried into an afternoon of considered leisure. Available in a single size of 10.5, the ring sits close to the finger in the manner of a well-fitted band. Sterling silver requires only occasional gentle polishing with a soft cloth to retain its quiet lustre, and the low-profile setting means it moves freely through daily life without catching on fabric or cuff.
