Description

There are stones that hold light the way certain silences hold meaning, and tanzanite is one of them. Found only in the shadow of Kilimanjaro yet long beloved in Indian fine jewellery for its violet-blue depth, tanzanite earns its place here in a setting that lets the stone do the speaking. This sterling silver ring is built around a single, generously proportioned tanzanite, its trichroic play shifting between inky violet, cornflower blue and a warm burgundy depending on where the light falls. The silver mount is worked with quiet intention: a raised, structured bezel or prong cradle lifts the stone to a height of twenty-four millimetres, giving the ring a commanding yet refined silhouette. Weighing just eight and a half grams, the piece sits with surprising substance on the hand without feeling heavy. Sterling silver, chosen here over gold, gives the setting a cool luminosity that flatters the stone's cooler tones rather than warming them away. Wear it against an ivory chanderi kurta at a literary evening or a museum opening, where its colour will read as quietly extraordinary. It pairs equally well with a midnight navy silk blouse for a formal dinner, the tanzanite deepening in low, warm light. Sized at ten and standing twenty-four millimetres in height, the ring is finished to a smooth polish on the band and offered in the single colourway of the stone itself. Sterling silver requires only occasional gentle cleaning to keep its brightness, making this a piece suited to considered, regular wear.
