Description

There are devotions that travel close to the skin, and this is one of them. Rendered in superfine sterling silver, this pendant carries Goddess Lakshmi in the idiom of South Indian temple jewellery, a tradition where the divine image is not ornament but invocation. The silhouette, measuring 2.3 inches in height by 1.5 inches in width (approximately 5.8 cm by 3.8 cm), frames the goddess with the architectural precision that Nagercoil and Thanjavur craftsmen have long brought to sacred silverwork. At the centre of the composition sits a genuine, certified Rudraksha bead, its natural surface left largely unadorned so that its spiritual weight is felt rather than decorated. The sterling silver surround is worked with the layered detailing characteristic of temple craft, likely incorporating fine repousse or cast relief to render Lakshmi's lotus, her abhaya mudra, and the attendant motifs that make such pieces recognisable across generations. At 16 grams, the pendant has quiet presence without heaviness. For daily wear, pair it with a raw silk kurta in ivory or deep ochre, the silver reading clean against natural fibres. On more formal occasions, it sits beautifully at the centre of a Kanjivaram or tissue silk neckline, grounding festive dressing with intention rather than excess. The free-size pendant suits most chain widths and lengths. Sterling silver maintains its lustre with minimal care, and the certified Rudraksha requires only that it be kept dry. A piece made to be worn, not stored.
