Description

There are stones that hold the sky inside them, and this is one. Set in sterling silver, this ring centres a generous turquoise cabochon whose surface carries the quiet, chalky blue-green of stones long prized across Rajasthan and Persia alike. The setting frames the principal stone with a neat surround of cubic zirconia, each facet catching light in the manner of old paste jewellery before it was ever called vintage. The silhouette rises to a height of fourteen millimetres, giving the ring genuine presence without tipping into theatre. At six point nine grams, the sterling silver mount has satisfying heft, with a finish that reads closer to polished antique silver than anything stark or industrial. The form is a classic cocktail crown, broad at the face and tapering gently towards the shank, available in a size eight band. Wear it over a cream raw-silk kurta for a daytime puja lunch, where the turquoise reads as something inherited and considered. Come evening, pair it with a fluid georgette sari in ivory or slate grey, and the ring becomes the only ornament the look requires. The band sits snugly at size eight, recommended for those whose ring finger measures approximately that standard Indian fit. The sterling silver will benefit from occasional light buffing with a soft cloth to maintain its brightness; avoid prolonged contact with moisture or perfume. A piece that earns its place precisely because it asks very little of you.
