Description

The wheel that sustains the cosmos, held now at the throat in sterling silver. Sudarshana, the spinning discus of Lord Vishnu, is among the most charged symbols in Hindu iconography: weapon, shield, and cosmic order made visible in a single form. This pendant renders it in sterling silver, worked to capture the radiating spokes and serrated rim that tradition demands of the motif. The silver carries a finish that allows every detail of the discus's geometry to read cleanly, the central axis and the layered edges speaking to a craftsman's patience with the medium. At two inches in height and just under an inch in width (approximately 5 cm by 2.2 cm), and weighing 21.1 grams, the piece has genuine presence without overpowering the neckline. It sits in a long lineage of devotional silver work practised across temple towns from Nagercoil to Bengal, where the karigar's relationship to sacred form is itself a form of worship. Wear it against a cream or ivory silk kurta for a festival puja, where the silver will catch candlelight with quiet authority. It pairs equally well with a plain white linen shirt and tailored trousers for a diaspora wearer who carries faith with contemporary ease. Free-sized and designed for a standard pendant bail, it will sit comfortably on any chain of your choosing. Sterling silver requires only occasional gentle polishing to maintain its lustre, making this a piece for daily devotion as much as for ceremony.
