Description

There are silhouettes that need no gilding to carry weight. This sterling silver pendant belongs to a quieter tradition of Indian silverwork, one that draws its confidence from form and stone rather than surface embellishment. At 1.75 inches tall and 1.35 inches wide (approximately 4.4 cm by 3.4 cm), the piece holds a satisfying heft in the hand, its satin or oxidised silver ground setting off the central gemstone with studied restraint. Three stones are offered: black onyx for its deep, light-absorbing gravity; labradorite for its spectral inner flash; and lapis lazuli for that particular Rajasthani blue that recalls pigment ground for miniature paintings. The bezel or prong setting cradles each stone cleanly, letting silver and gem hold a conversation without interruption. The finish carries the hallmark confidence of well-worked 925 sterling, cool and honest against the skin.
