Description

Shrinathji does not merely reside in Nathdwara; he travels, pinned close to the heart. Cast in sterling silver and worked in the devotional idiom that runs from the havelis of Rajasthan to the silver-smithing quarters of Jaipur, this brooch pendant carries the form of Shrinathji in his iconic upraised-arm pose. The figure is framed within a shaped cartouche, its surface animated by stone studding set flush against the silver ground. The stones, in the warm hues visible in the piece, add a jewel-like intensity without overwhelming the sacred subject. Sterling silver at this weight, thirty grams, has a solidity and quiet lustre that plated work cannot replicate. The reverse carries a secure pin-and-clasp mechanism, so the piece functions equally as a brooch or, suspended on a chain, as a pendant. The silhouette measures a considered seven and a half centimetres in height by five centimetres in width (3 inches by 2 inches), large enough to read as a statement yet proportioned for daily devotion. Worn pinned to the drape of a silk sari at the shoulder, it becomes an act of quiet reverence on Janmashtami or a temple visit. Fixed to the lapel of an ivory kurta, it carries the same gravity to a festive family gathering or an intimate puja at home. One size accommodates all wearers. The sterling silver will develop a gentle patina over time; a soft cloth restores its brightness. The pin mechanism is sturdy enough for repeated, confident use.
