Description

There are devotions that are worn close to the heart, and this is one of them. Shrinathji, the child form of Krishna enshrined at Nathdwara in Rajasthan, has inspired centuries of sacred metalwork across the ateliers of Jaipur and Bikaner. This brooch translates that devotion into wearable form: the deity's recognisable silhouette rendered in brass, its surface alive with closely set stones in the colours and composition shown. Brass, long favoured for devotional objects because of its warm, golden register, takes on an almost antique quality here, lending the piece the gravity of a heirloom without the weight of one. The stones are set flush against the frame, creating a compact mosaic that rewards close attention. At three inches in height and two point four inches in width (approximately 7.6 cm by 6.1 cm), the brooch weighs forty grams, giving it a satisfying, considered presence. Pin it at the centre of a starched ivory Chanderi kurta for a puja morning, allowing the motif to read clearly against a plain ground. Equally, it belongs at the neckline of a deep-hued silk blouse worn beneath a Kanjeevaram, where it functions as a devotional accent rather than mere ornament. The free-size brooch fastens with a standard pin closure at the reverse, making it straightforward to secure on most fabrics. The brass construction keeps the piece light enough for daily wear while ensuring the setting holds the stones firmly through repeated use.
