Description

Radha and Krishna, eternally together, now resting close to the heart. Cast in warm-toned brass and finished to a lustrous antiqued depth, this brooch-pendant carries the devotional spirit of temple jewellery traditions into an everyday wearable form. The central tableau, measuring a generous 2.75 inches by 2.75 inches (approximately 7 cm by 7 cm), frames the divine pair in close relief, surrounded by a border of coloured stones set in the close-bezel manner common to craft workshops across Rajasthan and Mathura's artisan quarters. The stones, vivid against the aged brass ground, recall the polychrome exuberance of Meenakari without the enamel firing, achieving their warmth instead through careful hand-placement. At 50 grams, the piece carries a satisfying, substantial weight that speaks to the density of the brass casting rather than any hollow shortcut. The free-size pinback closure on the reverse means no alterations are ever needed. Wear it pinned at the neckline of a cream silk kurta for a Janmashtami gathering where the motif invites recognition and conversation. Equally, it works fixed to the drape of a plain cotton sari at the shoulder, where it reads as a considered, devotional accent rather than ornament for ornament's sake. The brooch mechanism is sturdy enough for daily pinning and removal, and the antiqued brass finish resists superficial tarnish well. A light buff with a soft, dry cloth is all the care this piece asks.
