Description

There are shrines you carry with you, and then there is this. Lord Ganesha sits at the centre of this brooch in polished brass, his form rendered with the kind of unhurried attention that recalls the votive metalwork traditions of South India, where deity iconography in brass has been practised across generations. The figure rises approximately 2.7 inches (6.9 cm) in height and spans 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in width, a presence that is neither too bold nor too quiet. Coloured stones are set into the form in a manner suggestive of temple jewellery's devotional layering, each catching the light with quiet insistence. Below the main motif, dangling beads trail downward, adding gentle movement and the rhythmic quality of a processional ornament. At 46 grams, the brass carries real weight, lending the piece an honesty of material that plated alternatives rarely achieve. Pin it to the drape of a silk sari at a puja gathering, where its devotional character reads as both personal talisman and considered accessory. On a structured kurta or a linen jacket worn to a festive lunch, it becomes a conversation in miniature: craft, faith and form in one breath. Free size in the truest sense, the brooch fits any fabric with a pin fastening and asks nothing of the wearer beyond a willingness to place something meaningful close to the heart. Brass develops a warmth with wear; this is a piece that deepens, not diminishes.
