Description
A court frozen in brass, worn close to the heart. There is something almost heraldic about this brooch: a crowned king and queen rendered face-to-face within a single ornate frame, their profiles suggesting the miniature-painting tradition that once adorned the courts of Rajasthan and the Deccan. Crafted in brass and finished to a warm, antiqued tone, the piece is set with coloured stones whose faceted surfaces catch light in the manner of the bazaar jewellers of old Jaipur, where every surface was considered too precious to leave bare. The silhouette is generous and architectural, measuring approximately 7.2 centimetres in height by 8 centimetres in width, and the piece weighs a substantial 58 grams, lending it the satisfying heft of something made to be noticed. The stone setting follows a close-packed, prong-and-bezel arrangement typical of costume jewellery that borrows its visual grammar from Kundan and Polki traditions without claiming their precious materials. Worn on a richly embroidered dupatta or pinned to the shoulder of a structured bandhgala, this brooch reads as a confident statement. It would suit equally well the neckline of a velvet blouse beneath a Banarasi sari, anchoring the look with a touch of regal theatricality. The piece is available in one free size and attaches via a standard pin closure at the reverse, making it simple to reposition across different fabrics. The brass base is robust enough for regular wear and requires only a light cloth wipe to maintain its lustre.
