Description

Shrinathji, painted in devotion across centuries of Pushti Marg tradition, now rests at the centre of this brass brooch as a wearable act of faith. The motif is unmistakable: the raised figure of Shrinathji in his characteristic lifted-arm stance, rendered in close-set stone studding that catches light the way temple inlay does at the hour of abhishek. The stones, set flush against the brass ground in colours that echo the deity's ritual adornments, give the surface a jewelled density reminiscent of pichwai embellishment translated into metal. Brass, the traditional metal of devotional objects across Rajasthan and the Braj region, lends the piece its warm, slightly antique tone without pretending to be anything it is not. At 2.5 inches in height and 1.65 inches in width (approximately 6.4 cm by 4.2 cm), weighing 23 grams, the brooch carries a satisfying presence without bulk. Pin it to the left shoulder of a silk chanderi kurta for a morning puja gathering, or fasten it at the centre of a pashmina stole for a Janmashtami celebration where devotion and dressing are inseparable. The free-size brooch pin at the reverse is sturdy enough for everyday wear on medium to heavy fabrics. The brass finish, warm and burnished rather than high-polish, resists the clinical brightness of plated metals and ages with the quiet grace that devotional objects always do.
