Description

There are rings that rest on the hand, and there are rings that speak for it. This circular Kundan ring is built around a carved centre stone, its relief-cut surface catching light the way a pietra dura panel catches afternoon sun. The setting follows the Kundan method: stones pressed and secured within a framework of refined metal foil, a technique refined over centuries in the ateliers of Jaipur, where goldsmiths and stone-setters work in close relay. Here the tradition is interpreted in polished brass, the circular face framing the carved stone with a border of Kundan-set accent stones arranged in a tight, ornamental ring. The silhouette is bold but calibrated, measuring one inch in height and one and three-quarter inches in width (approximately 2.5 cm by 4.5 cm), and the piece weighs a substantial twenty grams. It is offered in three stone colours: blue, green and pink, each carrying a different mood entirely. Wear the blue with a cream silk kurta and pearl drops for a Diwali lunch; pair the pink with a tissue lehenga and minimal gold for a mehendi ceremony where the hands do the talking. The shank is adjustable, fitting most finger sizes without alteration, and the brass base develops a gentle warmth with wear. The carved centre stone makes this a piece worth turning over in the light before you put it on, simply to appreciate the work.
