Description

There are stones that look as though they have absorbed an entire winter sky, and this ring holds one of them. The blue topaz at its centre is deliberately left in a raw, rugged form, its surface irregular and unpolished in the way of a stone freshly lifted from a riverbed. That wilful roughness is the point. Sterling silver wraps around it in a bold, organic band, the metal worked to follow the stone's own contours rather than impose geometry upon it. This is not the refined world of Kundan or Jadau; it belongs instead to a quieter, more contemporary current in Indian silverwork, one that values the material in its honest state. The ring stands approximately one inch, or roughly 2.5 centimetres, in height, and at three grams it wears with a lightness that belies its visual presence. Pair it with a fine merino kurta in ivory for a winter morning, or let it sit against a linen dress at a gallery opening, where its sculptural quality reads as considered and unhurried. It works equally well as the single statement on an otherwise bare hand. Available in size eight, the ring is cast in sterling silver, which wears cleanly with daily use and develops a soft patina over time. A gentle polish returns its brightness whenever you wish. At this weight, it is comfortable for extended wear, and its low profile makes it practical beneath even a fitted sleeve.
