Description

There is something quietly honest about a turquoise ring that asks for nothing beyond itself. Reconstituted turquoise, compressed and shaped to hold the mineral's characteristic sky-to-sea colour, sits at the centre of this sterling silver ring with the composure of something much older. The stone is set in a bezel of polished silver, cradling it without fuss, letting the colour do the speaking. Sterling silver, at its ninety-two-point-five per cent purity, carries a cool brightness that reads differently from gold, more direct, less ceremonial. The silhouette is compact and upright, the stone face rising to a height of approximately two centimetres (0.80 inch) above the band. At two grams, the ring sits on the finger with a nearness that feels considered rather than minimal. The tradition it most naturally belongs to is the enduring North Indian preference for silver jewellery worn with everyday clothes, a practice with deep roots across Rajasthan and beyond. Wear it with a white or indigo hand-block kurta and let the turquoise speak to the cloth's dyes. It pairs equally well with a simple linen shift for a diaspora wardrobe that moves between contexts without apology. Available in sizes six and six, both suited to slender fingers, the ring weighs two grams and wears comfortably for long hours. Sterling silver benefits from occasional polishing with a soft cloth to retain its brightness, making this an undemanding, enduring companion for daily wear.
