Description

There are stones that do not merely catch the light; they hold entire skies inside them. This sterling silver ring carries an oval Ethiopian opal at its centre, a stone renowned for its rolling play-of-colour: spectral blues, greens and flashes of amber shift with every turn of the hand. Ethiopian opal is prized among gemstone collectors for precisely this phenomenon, called adularescence, which no two stones express in quite the same way. The setting is a clean bezel or low-profile prong frame worked in sterling silver, a metal long favoured by artisans in Rajasthan and Bengal for its cool luminosity and workability. The band is slender and unadorned, letting the stone carry the full weight of intention. At just 2.5 grams, the ring sits on the finger with quiet confidence, the profile measuring 0.15 inches (approximately 0.38 cm) in height across all available sizes. Wear it with a fine ivory cotton kurta for an afternoon literary gathering, where its restrained shimmer reads as considered rather than conspicuous. It pairs equally well with a draped silk sari in deep teal or rust, the opal's inner fire answering the richness of the weave without competing with it. Currently offered in size 8, this ring is suited to daily wear. Sterling silver acquires a gentle patina over time; a soft cloth restore its original brightness. The low-set stone is practical for hands that work, write and reach through the day.
